Geo Gebra as situating tool

Geo Gebra is dynamic mathematics software for all levels of education that brings together geometry, algebra, spreadsheets, graphing, statistics and calculus in one easy-to-use package. GeoGebra is a rapidly expanding community of millions of users located in just about every country. GeoGebra has become the leading provider of dynamic mathematics software, supporting science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and innovations in teaching and learning worldwide.

How GeoGebra can be used in classroom?

• GeoGebra Classroom is a web-based platform that allows teachers to create interactive lessons for their students.
• Assign students interesting and engaging homework or class works.
•  GeoGebra allows students to not only learn the idea of the geometry, but also to practice and apply their understanding of of their learning. 

Procedure/Steps to create GeoGebra;

1. In the search bar tool, type 'GeoGebra" and and select GeoGebra to open it.

 

2. To have a grid, Right click and select grid option.

3. lets plot the coordinates of the quadrilateral 

ABCD$ABCD$ are A(−2,3),B(1,3),C(1,2)$A(-2,3),B(1,3),C(1,2)$, D(-1,2) 

Use  point to mark the coordinates  and use polygon to join the coordinates. 

4. Translate the figure ABCD to A'B'C'D' with Reflect over x-axis rule.

and click on the image to reflect over x-axis.

Click on the Reflect about the line option and click on the x-axis. 

5. Now lets do dilation of Image A'B'C'D' using GeoGebra.

Do this, select point option to create a dilation center.

Now choose dilate from point option to do dilation.

D(−2,2)

Now click on image A'B'C'D' and click on the point. Insert the factor in the appearing table.

last Click OK to have the dilation image.

Activity question for students.

use GeoGebra to solve the following question.

1. Plot Triangle P(2,-4) Q (-5,4) and R (1,4).

2. Reflect Triangle PQR over X-axis .

3. Rotate image P'Q'R' 180 degree anti clockwise

Dilate Image of P'Q'R' with the Scale factor 2
